I’m going to talk about some of my favorite memories from the past. This is one of the most fun topics to talk about because we all love reminiscing about the good old days.

Let’s just jump right in.

Sixth Grade Camp

The first memory I want to talk about is sixth grade camp. In case you’ve never heard of this before, in the U.S., at least when I was in school, we had the tradition of going on a week-long camping trip during sixth grade. When I went, we didn’t actually camp in tents, though. We were divided into groups and stayed in different cabins with different camp counselors, who were in charge of the cabins.

I had such an awesome time because we got to do a lot of outdoor activities like hiking, archery, and rock climbing. Since I’m an outdoorsy person, this type of trip was perfect for me. Aside from the activities, we had plenty of time to talk, play, and bond with the other kids. Also, the food was amazing!

Of all the memories I have of elementary school, sixth grade camp is probably my favorite.

Trip to Hawaii

Alright, the next memory I want to talk about is a trip I took to Hawaii when I was 13.

I’ve actually been to Hawaii a handful of times, but this trip was special because it was one of the first times I traveled without my parents. I went with a friend and his family, and we stayed in a nice hotel right across from Waikiki Beach in Honolulu. At that time, I thought it was the coolest thing to take a week off school, go to one of the most beautiful places on Earth, and be without my parents.

I guess we didn’t do anything that special on that trip, but the circumstances were what made it such a great memory for me.

First Day Driving to School

Another memory that will always stay with me is the first day I drove to school in my own car. I was barely 16, and I had just gotten my license the day before. I felt like I was on top of the world! I remember choosing a special music playlist for that big moment.

Getting your driver’s license is a big rite of passage for young Americans. It’s a proud moment when you can finally drive yourself around and not rely on your parents.

At that time, I thought my car was really cool. But looking back now, it wasn’t all that special. However, that doesn’t make the memory any less important to me.

Graduating from High School

Another one of my top memories is graduating from high school. The ceremony itself wasn’t anything special, and I wasn’t necessarily proud of myself, but I was just relieved to be done. Not only that, but at that age, I had big dreams and high expectations for my future, so I was excited to start my journey.

My life didn’t go exactly as I planned, but that doesn’t matter. The reason why graduating from high school is such a powerful memory for me is that I can still remember that excitement.

Language Exchange Program in Mexico

Perhaps my favorite memory of the past is the language exchange program I did in Mexico in 2013. This was the first solo experience I had in another country. Nothing could have prepared me for this type of trip. I went to a foreign country without speaking the language well, and I stayed with an older couple who didn’t speak any English. Needless to say, I struggled a lot during the first few days. But little by little, I started to find my way. I made friends, learned Spanish, and even met my future wife.

Even today, my wife and I love going back to the old places where we hung out during my exchange program. As you can see, I really enjoy reminiscing about the past.

خاطرات

قراره درباره‌ی چند تا از خاطرات مورد علاقه‌ام از گذشته صحبت کنم. این یکی از جالب‌ترین موضوعاتیه که می‌شه درباره‌ش حرف زد، چون همه‌ی ما دوست داریم از روزهای خوب گذشته یاد کنیم.

اردوی کلاس ششم

اولین خاطره‌ای که می‌خوام تعریف کنم، مربوط به اردوی کلاس ششمه. شاید تا حالا درباره‌ی این اردو چیزی نشنیده باشی، اما توی آمریکا (حداقل زمانی که من مدرسه می‌رفتم)، یه رسم بود که توی کلاس ششم برای یک هفته به اردو می‌رفتیم.وقتی ما رفتیم، توی چادر نبودیم. ما رو به گروه‌های مختلف تقسیم کردن و هر گروه توی کلبه‌هایی ساکن شد که یه راهنمای اردو مسئولش بود.

خیلی خوش گذشت! کلی فعالیت‌های هیجان‌انگیز توی طبیعت انجام دادیم، مثل کوهنوردی، تیراندازی با کمان و صخره‌نوردی. من عاشق طبیعتم، برای همین این اردو کاملاً مناسبم بود.

علاوه بر این، کلی وقت داشتیم که با بقیه‌ی بچه‌ها حرف بزنیم، بازی کنیم و با هم دوست بشیم. تازه، غذاها هم عالی بودن!از بین همه‌ی خاطراتی که از دوران دبستان دارم، این اردو احتمالاً بهترینشونه.

سفر به هاوایی

خُب، خاطره‌ی بعدی مربوط به سفریه که وقتی ۱۳ سالم بود به هاوایی رفتم.چند بار به هاوایی رفتم، اما این سفر خاص بود، چون یکی از اولین دفعاتی بود که بدون پدر و مادرم سفر کردم.

با یکی از دوستام و خانواده‌ش رفتم و توی یه هتل قشنگ، درست روبه‌روی ساحل وایکیکی در هونولولو اقامت داشتیم.اون موقع، این برام هیجان‌انگیزترین چیز دنیا بود که یه هفته مدرسه نرم، به یکی از قشنگ‌ترین جاهای دنیا برم و بدون پدر و مادرم باشم.راستش توی اون سفر کار خاصی نکردیم، اما شرایط سفر باعث شد که این خاطره یکی از بهترین‌ها بشه.

اولین روزی که با ماشین خودم رفتم مدرسه

یکی دیگه از خاطراتی که همیشه توی ذهنم می‌مونه، روزیه که برای اولین بار با ماشین خودم رفتم مدرسه.تازه ۱۶ سالم شده بود و روز قبلش گواهینامه گرفته بودم. حس می‌کردم دنیا رو فتح کردم!

حتی یه پلی‌لیست مخصوص برای این لحظه‌ی خاص آماده کرده بودم.توی آمریکا، گرفتن گواهینامه یه مرحله‌ی مهم از زندگی جووناست. لحظه‌ی غرورآفرینیه که می‌تونی خودت رانندگی کنی و دیگه به پدر و مادرت وابسته نباشی.اون زمان فکر می‌کردم ماشینم خیلی باحاله، اما حالا که بهش فکر می‌کنم، چیز خاصی نبود. البته، این موضوع باعث نمی‌شه که این خاطره برام کم‌اهمیت بشه.

فارغ‌التحصیلی از دبیرستان

یکی دیگه از خاطرات مهمم، فارغ‌التحصیلی از دبیرستانه.خود مراسم چیز خاصی نبود و حس نمی‌کردم کار بزرگی کردم، اما از این‌که بالاخره تموم شد، یه حس راحتی داشتم.

علاوه بر این، توی اون سن، کلی رویا و انتظارات بزرگ برای آینده‌ام داشتم، برای همین خیلی هیجان‌زده بودم که مسیرم رو شروع کنم.زندگی دقیقاً طبق برنامه‌هام پیش نرفت، اما مهم نیست. چیزی که این خاطره رو خاص می‌کنه، همون حس هیجانیه که هنوز یادم مونده.

برنامه‌ی تبادل زبان در مکزیک

شاید بهترین خاطره‌ی من از گذشته، برنامه‌ی تبادل زبانی بود که سال ۲۰۱۳ توی مکزیک شرکت کردم.این اولین تجربه‌ی مستقل من توی یه کشور دیگه بود. هیچ چیز نمی‌تونست منو برای این نوع سفر آماده کنه.

رفتم یه کشور خارجی، اونم بدون این‌که خوب بتونم زبانشون رو صحبت کنم. با یه زوج مسن زندگی کردم که اصلاً انگلیسی بلد نبودن.واضحه که روزهای اول خیلی سخت گذشت، اما کم‌کم راه خودم رو پیدا کردم.دوستای جدید پیدا کردم، اسپانیایی یاد گرفتم و حتی با همسر آینده‌ام آشنا شدم!

حتی الان هم، من و همسرم هنوز دوست داریم به جاهایی که توی اون برنامه با هم وقت می‌گذروندیم، برگردیم.همون‌طور که می‌بینی، من واقعاً از مرور خاطرات گذشته لذت می‌برم.
