Christmas

Christmas is usually considered by most people to be the most important holiday in the US. I already mentioned this in the episode about Thanksgiving, but I want to repeat it here today. Thanksgiving is not the most important holiday in the US, but for some reason, a lot of people from other countries think this.

They think that Thanksgiving is the most important holiday here, but most people would consider Christmas to be the most important holiday. So, there are a lot of reasons for this. Of course, at the heart of Christmas is the religious aspect of the holiday, the reason why Christmas exists, right? It’s to celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ.

Right? So, Christians in the US will really value Christmas, because it’s the celebration of the birth of our Lord and Savior. Right? There’s a huge reason to celebrate if you’re a Christian. But even if you’re not religious, this holiday is probably still the most important one throughout the year, because it’s become a holiday that most people celebrate whether or not they regard the religious aspect of it.

So, it’s still big, just in society, beyond just the religious population. So, there is the religious significance the reason for the holiday, obviously. However, It’s also a really big holiday for other people. And for other reasons as well. And we have a whole season around Christmas.

There’s the Christmas season. So, the whole month of December is special in the US. This month feels different. It looks different. It sounds different. You can tell that it’s the Christmas season anytime in December, and I’ll talk a little more about that in just a minute. But yeah, we have a whole season around Christmas.

That’s how significant this holiday is. And of course, it’s a really big family holiday. Usually, this is a day when you get together with your family, and you eat together, and you have this time as a family… like Thanksgiving.

کریسمس

کریسمس معمولاً از نظر بیشتر مردم مهم‌ترین تعطیلات توی آمریکا حساب میشه. من قبلاً توی قسمت مربوط به روز شکرگزاری اینو گفتم، ولی امروز می‌خواهم دوباره بگم. روز شکرگزاری مهم‌ترین تعطیلات اینجا نیست، ولی به دلایلی خیلی از مردم از کشورهای دیگه اینطور فکر می‌کنن.

اونا فکر می‌کنن که روز شکرگزاری مهم‌ترین تعطیلات توی آمریکاست، اما بیشتر مردم کریسمس رو مهم‌ترین تعطیلات می‌دونن. دلیلش هم خیلی زیاده. البته که مهم‌ترین دلیلش جنبه مذهبی کریسمسه، یعنی دلیلی که کریسمس وجود داره، درسته؟ برای جشن گرفتن تولد عیسی مسیحه. درست می‌گم؟ پس مسیحی‌های آمریکا واقعاً کریسمس رو با ارزش می‌دونن، چون تولد پروردگار و نجات‌دهنده‌شون رو جشن می‌گیرن.

اگه مسیحی باشی، دلیل خیلی بزرگی برای جشن گرفتن هست. ولی حتی اگه مذهبی نباشی، این تعطیلات هنوز ممکنه مهم‌ترین تعطیلات سال باشه، چون این روز تبدیل به یه تعطیلات شده که بیشتر مردم صرف‌نظر از اینکه جنبه مذهبی‌اش رو قبول داشته باشن یا نه، جشن می‌گیرن.

پس هنوز خیلی مهمه، نه فقط برای مردم مذهبی بلکه برای جامعه به طور کلی. این تعطیلات جنبه مذهبی خاصی داره که واضحه. اما این یه تعطیلات خیلی بزرگ برای بقیه آدم‌ها هم هست و دلایل دیگه‌ای هم داره. و اصلاً یه فصل کامل دور کریسمس داریم.

فصل کریسمس! تمام ماه دسامبر اینجا خاصه. این ماه یه حس متفاوتی داره. به نظر میاد که متفاوت باشه. صدای متفاوتی داره. هر وقت دسامبر باشه می‌تونی بفهمی که فصل کریسمس شروع شده، و من حالا بیشتر راجع به این صحبت می‌کنم. ولی بله، ما یه فصل کامل برای کریسمس داریم. این یعنی چقدر این تعطیلات مهمه. و البته، کریسمس یه تعطیلات خانوادگی بزرگ هم هست. معمولاً این روزیه که با خانواده جمع می‌شید، با هم غذا می‌خورید و وقت رو کنار هم سپری می‌کنید… مثل روز شکرگزاری.
